Our Expertise
Directors Mark Reti and Rory McNamara started in the fire safety industry as Fire Safety Enforcement Officers for Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service, where they accumulated a wealth of knowledge including Enforcement, Building Regulation and Prosecution experience. Besides this, a passion for the specialism was established as well as a drive to help people and make the built environment safer for all those who occupy it. This experience and passion, as well as a number of years as fire risk validators/assessors within the private sector, lead them to form the company, bringing all the experience of public and private sectors together. With their own business, they were able to build a company with occupant safety, passion and care at the forefront of all decision making. This did not just stop at client care, there was also a desire to create a caring and inclusive company where staff are treated fairly and are looked after, so that our staff can share the same passion for wanting to provide the best service. With this in mind, our flagship Fire Risk Assessment service was designed to deliver a quality report crafted from our inhouse report writing system IgKnight, which ensures a high industry standard and consistency. This ensures the delivery of a fully suitable and sufficient Fire Risk Assessment that will both be easily understandable for the clients, as well as fulfil any requirements that the fire service will want, which is where our origins in public and private sector fire safety are invaluable.

Mark Reti
I am Mark Reti and I started my fire safety career as a Fire Safety Enforcing Officer in Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service. During my time there, I travelled across the whole county, working out of each of the designated hubs, which each provided a unique array of properties and building designations providing a diverse amount of experience. I also undertook work at Merseyside’s Fire Service HQ within the Building Regulations team, giving me further valuable insight into this process and how buildings within this phase are influenced before completion.
Moving on from this, I spent many years in the private sector working as a Fire Risk Assessor completing the onsite reports, Fire Risk Validator where I would quality check the reports of the Fire Risk Assessors, and as a Training Manager where I oversaw the onboarding and support of new and current fire safety staff, whilst also delivering valuable training sessions for those in the company.
The desire to start our own company grew due to wanting to set a high standard of both client and employee care and therefore, Guardian Fire Safety Limited (now trading as Marro Fire) was set up with mybusiness partner and friend Rory McNamara.
I am qualified to Level 5 diploma level in Fire Engineering Principles and hold accreditations with professional bodies of MIFSM and MIFireE status with the Institute of Fire Managers and Institute of Fire Engineers respectively, as well as Tier 2 of the Risk Assessors register. I have over 10 years of experience in both public and private sector fire safety.

I am Rory McNamara and my fire safety story began after leaving Merseyside Police after 14 years to join Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service as a Fire Safety Enforcing Officer. At MFRS, I gained a high level of knowledge and experience auditing a vast number of premises from commercial (hotels, public houses, offices etc.) to residential (high-rise flats, HMOs, supported housing etc.), which has in turn given me the unique knowledge of enforcement actions taken by the fire service.
On leaving the fire service, I was recruited as a Fire Risk Validator and Fire Risk Assessor in the private sector, completing quality checks of the reports of the Fire Risk Assessors, as well as completing the onsite reports myself, where I worked until the creation of Guardian Fire Safety.
The idea of Guardian Fire Safety Limited (now trading as Marro Fire), including the principles that myself and my business partner and friend Mark Reti stand for, are the driving force behind its creation: honest safety-led assessments.
I am qualified to Level 4 diploma level in Fire Safety and hold accreditations with professional bodies of AIFSM and AIFireE status with the Institute of Fire Managers and Institute of Fire Engineers respectively, as well as Tier 2 of the Risk Assessors register. I have over 7 years of experience in both public and private sector fire safety.
Our Process
The fire risk assessment involves an in person visit to the premises where a detailed visual assessment will be undertaken.
This involves a site walk around checking all accessible areas which involves a full check of active and passive fire protection, and all required fire precautions. A record inspection will also take place on site (or, if more convenient, via email) which will involve maintenance records for all fire safety installations.
